KN-WECCMA Executive Secretary Inspects Vandalized NEWMAP Projects at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology

Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Watershed and Erosion Control Management Agency (KN-WECCMA) and State Project Coordinator for the European Investment Bank-Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (EIB-NEWMAP), conducted a site inspection of completed NEWMAP projects at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.

Accompanied by Engr. N.F. Gajere, National Project Engineer for EIB-NEWMAP, and university management, Dr. Khalil assessed the damage caused by vandalism from the neighboring community to the completed projects, which aimed to mitigate erosion and promote sustainable environmental management in the university community.

Dr. Khalil expressed disappointment and concern over the vandalism, which has compromised the integrity and effectiveness of the projects. He emphasized the need for community engagement and ownership to ensure the sustainability of such initiatives.

The inspection highlights the importance of stakeholder collaboration and community responsibility in maintaining and protecting public infrastructure.
