The Kano State Executive Council has approved the Kano State Climate Change Policy, a landmark initiative developed by the Kano State Watershed Erosion and Climate Change Management Agency (KN-WECCMA). This policy tackles pressing climate change challenges, including food insecurity, drought, and desertification, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting sustainable development.
The development of the Kano State Climate Change Policy was a collaborative effort from the onset. The process began with a series of stakeholder engagements, capacity building, and technical assistance provided by our partners. PERL, PACE, and UNICEF played crucial roles in shaping the policy, bringing their expertise and resources to the table. Throughout the development process, each partner invested significant time and effort, working closely with the Kano State Watershed Erosion and Climate Change Management Agency (KN-WECCMA) to ensure the policy’s success.
Special thanks to His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
